What is Jewel Bearings?

The jewel bearings are plain bearings where the metal spindle is turned into a jewel-lined pivot hole. The hole is shaped like a torus and is slightly greater than the shaft diameter. These jewels are made of mineral corundum that could be of synthetic sapphire or synthetic ruby.
